Fingersmith is a Victorian crime novel by Sarah Waters that was shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize and the Orange Prize in 2002. It won the CWA Ellis Peters Dagger Award for Historical Crime Fiction and the South Bank Show Award for Literature. The novel is set in 1862 and follows an orphan thief, Sue Trinder, who becomes involved in a con to defraud a wealthy heiress, Maud Lilly, but their fates become complicated by a series of shocking twists.
