Scumble is a young adult fantasy novel by Ingrid Law that follows Ledge, a thirteen-year-old boy whose family secret is a supernatural "savvy" or power that emerges on his 13th birthday. Instead of a desired power like running like the wind, Ledge's savvy causes things to fall apart, making him a "one-kid demolitions expert". He must learn to control, or "scumble," his new ability and protect his family's secret from an outside witness, a reporter named Sarah Jane Cabot, while also dealing with her father, a banker, who threatens his family's ranch.
