The House at Riverton is a historical fiction novel by Kate Morton about a servant girl, Grace Bradley, who recounts the secrets of a wealthy family she worked for, the Hartfords, to a young film director decades later. The story is told in flashback, beginning with the 1924 death of a young poet at Riverton House and the hidden truth surrounding the event, which only Grace and the Hartford sisters, Hannah and Emmeline, know. The novel explores themes of love, duty, and the rigid social structures of the time, as the narrative shifts between Grace's memories of the pre-WWI era, the Roaring Twenties, and the present day.
