Unaccustomed Earth won the 2008 Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award.  Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lahiri is a collection of eight short stories, including a three-story linked trilogy, that explore the complexities of family life, love, and cultural identity for Indian American immigrants adn their families. The stories, noted for their emotional depth and exquisite prose, examine the tensions between generations, the secrets people keep, and the challenges of balancing heritage with assimilation.
